Request a valuation — how it works

What we need from you

A clear photograph of each item and a sentence or two about it is usually enough. Include any hallmarks, signatures, maker's marks or dates you can see, and mention any damage or repair.

What happens next

A valuer looks at your request and replies with an estimate and how the house would sell it — in a live or timed sale, and at what kind of reserve. There is no charge and no obligation.

If you decide to sell

We agree a reserve and take the item into the next suitable sale. You are told the hammer price and paid once the buyer has settled, less the seller's commission set out in our terms.

Questions we are asked

Does a valuation cost anything?

No. Valuing an item is free and does not commit you to sell. You only pay a seller's commission if the item sells.

How many items can I send at once?

Up to 20 in one request, with up to 5 photographs of each. If you have a whole collection, send the first 20 and say so in the notes — we will arrange the rest.

What sells best?

Gold, silver and gem-set jewellery, watches, coins and small antiques. If you are unsure whether an item is worth selling, send it anyway — we would rather tell you honestly than have you guess.

Do I need an account?

Yes, a free account. It keeps your request and our reply together and lets you track the item if it goes into a sale.
